Why Your Words Matter
Oftentimes, the best nuggets of information are buried in the back of our minds. The advice/tip for a food spot that immediately rushes to the surface if you were prompted, but not necessarily compelled to document somewhere like Yelp or an IG post. The problem is this information is necessarily found in some sort of prose. When deciding where to eat or what to do, number of reviews and star ratings only act as a proxy to a well formed opinion of an experience but I would argue the true value-add is the feeling you get by the story of someone’s lived through experience, and the desire for action or inaction afterwards, driving the decision making process. I certainly believe we all have something to share, the opinions of my friends and trusted sources beat out the thousands of reviews found in the wild.
To that end, there is something beautiful about the genuineness of a thoughtful tip or piece of advice, alongside a brief review of an experience so delightful you feel compelled to write about it. If you would like to help curate this museum of experiences, please check out this project I’ve been working on. (Text me for sign in details) You can call it a merge between Google My Maps, Google Sheets, and Yelp. It’s an overall trip planning tool.
